Today we honour Private Eric George Gould who served with the 8th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (8RAR).

Eric voluntarily enlisted in the Australian Regular Army and was posted to the 1st Australian Reinforcement Battalion on 03 September 1969. He was subsequently posted to 9RAR then 8RAR in early November. Eric was fatally wounded on 21 December 1969 in Long Khan Province of South Vietnam. He was 22 years old at the time of his passing.

Eric was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England in 1947. He was adopted by Eric and Nancy Gould as a child and lived in Tamworth. Per Eric’s request his remains were interred in the family plot at St Gregory’s Church in Bedale, North Yorkshire.

Private Eric George Gould is also memorialized at the Garden of Remembrance, Perth War Cemetery and Annex, Perth, Western Australia, Australia. Lest We Forget.
