🇺🇲Vietnam War Stories: Honoring the Heroes We Lost: The Trujillo Brothers of New Mexico
Today we honor Sergeant Gabriel Trujillo, of Raton New Mexico, who served with L Troop (Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol), 75th Infantry Regiment (Rangers), 101st Airborne Division. Gabriel was fatally wounded on February 15, 1971 in the Thua Thien province of South Vietnam. He was 20 years old.
A recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, Sergeant Gabriel Trujillo is honored on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington DC on Panel 05W, Line 110.
We also remember and honor Gabriel’s older brother Private Paul Trujillo. Paul arrived in Vietnam on November 10, 1970 and served with Service Battery, 2nd Battalion, 32nd Artillery, 23rd Artillery Group, II Field Force. Private Trujillo was fatally wounded on November 4, 1971, just a few days short of finishing his tour. Paul was 28 years old at the time of his passing.
