Today we honor Staff Sergeant Emmett Joseph Bryant, of Greensburg, St Helena Parish, Louisiana, who served with MACV, Advisory Team 88. Emmett was fatally wounded on February 9, 1965 in the Phuoc Long province of South Vietnam. Staff Sergeant Bryant served during the Korean War before being deployed to Vietnam. He was 35 years old at the time of his passing.

A recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, Emmett is honored on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington DC on Panel 01E, Line 86.

Corporal Melvin Gene Bryant, also of Greensburg, St Helena Parish, Louisiana, served with the 198th Light Infantry Brigade, 1st Battalion, 52nd Infantry, C Company. Melvin was fatally wounded on October 1, 1970 in the Quang Ngai province of South Vietnam. He was 21 years old.

A recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart Medal with OLC, Corporal Melvin Gene Bryant is honored on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington DC on Panel 07W, Line 102.

A third brother Specialist Four James Bryant also served. A recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, James returned to Louisiana after the war.

The Bryant brothers lie in rest side by side at Clinton-Pipkin Cemetery in St Helena Parish, Louisiana. Lest We Forget.
