Today we honor Sergeant Phillip Charles Taylor, of Grand Island New York, who served with the 1st Aviation Brigade, 3rd Squadron, 17th Cavalry, A Troop.

On May 27, 1971, Phillip was the observer of a Bell Kiowa Observation Helicopter (OH-58A), conducting battle damage assessment in Kracheh Province, Cambodia. His aircraft was hit by ground fire exploded and crashed about 8 miles southeast of Snuol. His remains were recovered on February 26, 1993 and identified on August 2, 1993. Phillip was 22 years old at the time of his passing.

A recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross,
and the Purple Heart Medal Sergeant Taylor is honored on the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington DC on Panel 03W Line 56. Phillip lies in rest at Oakhill Cemetery in Lakeland, Florida and he is memorialized at Arlington National Cemetery. Lest We Forget.
