Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz Receives Washington DC Parade for Leading US Pacific Fleet – Oct 5, 1945

US Navy Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz is honored with a parade in Washington DC for his service as the Commander-in-Chief of the US Pacific Fleet in WW2 – October 5, 1945.

A replica of USS Missouri, site of the Japanese surrender, served as the parade’s grandstand at the base of the Washington Monument. Thousands of Sailors, Marines, and other personnel marched in his honor.
